Hello! I am Fatima, the Registered Clinical Counsellor here at Real Talk. Have you ever felt like you don’t belong in conventional counselling spaces? Do you find traditional counselling awkward or too gentle? At Real Talk, we recognize that sometimes life (or people!) gets prickly. Add culture clash, work/school, and mental health challenges to the mix, and you have a possible cocktail for chaos. At Real Talk, we believe in a harm-reduction philosophy and respect that as our client, you are the expert in your life. Our practice is judgment-free. Whether you swear, cry, or feel unhinged, it’s okay! Bring your baggage and your labels, we have tons of room.
My background is in working with youth and families. I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University and am registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. I recognize that lived experiences and relationships contribute to our actions, behaviours, and how we view the world around us. I focus on how attachment styles, culture, and communication impact our relationships. While being slightly comedic, I promise to take a trauma-informed and strength-based approach. I believe in a client-centred approach that is culturally diverse with a holistic perspective.
In my spare time, I can be found spending time with my miniature dachshund, Chai, or practicing self-care in nature with a good book.
In addition to flexible scheduling, Fatima is open to in-person and online counselling. She aims to provide a safe and judgement-free space to explore whatever has led you to your counselling experience. If you can’t find a time that works for you, please email her at fatima@realtalktc.ca
